November 05, 2001 - Alvarion Ltd. received follow-on orders from Gateway Systems, an Indian broadband wireless access provider.

Gateway ordered WALKair terminal equipment for operations in the 10.5 GHz band and breezeACCESS systems for operations in the 2.4 GHz band.

Gateway has already deployed WALKair base stations in the 10.5 GHz band in the Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune and Delhi regions of India.

“Gateway's 10.5 GHz spectrum license covers all of India's strategic markets and enables the provision of wireless broadband services to more than 70% of India's businesses,” said Andy Goorno, CEO at Sakon. “The BreezeACCESS will allow us to expand our business to additional markets in India.”

Gateway is owned in part by Sakon, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Titan Corp.

Alvarion is a point-to-multipoint broadband wireless access solutions provider formed from the merger of BreezeCOM and Floware this year.
